The streets are mean in the barrio, even for girls. In "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)" (1993), writer-director Allison Anders uses her unique style to paint a realistic and powerful picture of a Latina girl gang in East L.A., and the bonds that form and break among these young girls. Seidy Lopez and Angel Aviles play former best friends who let a drug dealer come between them. After he is murdered, the dynamic on the street changes and it's time to take sides. Told through a series of vignettes with different narrators, this film presents a beautiful and complete glimpse into the day-to-day struggles of these tough girls.
